Sanjay Raut’s Cryptic ‘Loyalty’ Post Sparks Political Firestorm as Shiv Sena (UBT) Faces Fresh MP Exodus Buzz

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has triggered a fresh wave of political controversy after posting a sharp, cryptic message on social media that appeared to target his own party’s rebel MPs, as speculation grows over a possible mass defection in Maharashtra politics.
In a post on X, Raut shared a Hindi message implying that appearances of loyalty can be deceptive, paired with a blunt “Jai Maharashtra!” caption, widely interpreted as a veiled attack on lawmakers allegedly preparing to switch sides.
The timing of the post comes amid intense political chatter that multiple Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs may align with the Eknath Shinde-led faction, reviving fears of another major split within the party after the 2022 breakaway that reshaped Maharashtra’s political landscape.
According to political circles, six MPs are believed to have skipped a recent key party meeting, further strengthening rumours of internal realignment and a potential shift towards the ruling alliance. The development has intensified speculation that “Operation Tiger” style political manoeuvring could be underway once again.
The situation has escalated tensions within the Uddhav Thackeray camp, with senior leaders openly accusing defectors of betrayal and political opportunism. Party insiders claim the leadership is attempting damage control while also warning dissidents of strict organisational action.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray also reacted strongly, accusing the rebel camp of abandoning the mandate given by voters and engaging in what he called unethical political switching. He said Maharashtra’s electorate would not accept such moves and alleged that personal ambition was driving the unrest.
Meanwhile, leaders from the rival faction have hinted that “more developments are coming,” further fueling uncertainty over the stability of the Shiv Sena (UBT)’s parliamentary strength.
