17 Shiv Sena Leaders Booked Over Alleged Attack at Palghar Hospital After Dahi Handi Dispute

Seventeen Shiv Sena office-bearers and supporters have been booked following an alleged confrontation at Relief Hospital in Palghar on September 5, after Dahi Handi celebrations. The hospital alleged that Shiv Sena leaders entered the facility, abused a woman doctor, threatened vandalism and assaulted staff over treatment and discharge of injured Govindas.
The dispute arose over payment for treatment of Govinda troupe members injured during human pyramid formations at a Dahi Handi event organised at Shivaji Chowk. The hospital sought ₹19,866 while organisers had deposited ₹10,000. According to the complaint, district chief Kundan Sankhe and others arrived around 1:15 am, questioned staff, allegedly threatened vandalism and pressured discharge of critical patients from ICU.
Shiv Sena leaders disputed the hospital's account, claiming they only inquired about patient complaints. Dr Vishal Kodgirkar, hospital founder, stated the incident was a serious attack on hospital functioning and safety, with a critically injured patient forcibly removed from ICU.
