Student Alleges Assault by RPF Personnel at Pune Station, Claims Eardrum Ruptured

A 25-year-old Digital Media student of Savitribai Phule Pune University has alleged he was assaulted by Railway Protection Force personnel at Pune Railway Station on August 24, resulting in a perforated left eardrum. According to the student, Ronit Rabhaji Arune, the incident occurred around 11pm near the station's main entrance when he intervened after witnessing RPF personnel allegedly beating workers and members of the public with sticks.
Arune claimed he was forcibly dragged to the RPF post and assaulted there, sustaining a severe blow to his left ear and head. He said the blow caused his eardrum to rupture. Medical records from Sassoon General Hospital, including a medico-legal case report, reportedly document the perforated eardrum and blood clots. An ENT examination at the university's health centre also recorded the injury.
Arune has sought an FIR against the RPF personnel involved, their suspension, and compensation for medical and academic losses.
