Uddhav's Shiv Sena faces fresh split threat in Maharashtra

Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray's Shiv Sena faction, which holds nine Lok Sabha seats, faces the prospect of another internal division in Maharashtra. According to anti-defection law provisions, at least two-thirds of MPs—or six members—would be required to orchestrate a split and escape disqualification.
The party has been navigating internal tensions since the 2019 split that led to the formation of the Eknath Shinde-led faction. The current situation raises questions about the stability of Uddhav's faction ahead of potential political realignments in the state.
