Uddhav Thackeray Backs DJ Ban During Ganeshotsav, Urges CM Fadnavis to Regulate Noise

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday endorsed demands to ban high-decibel DJ sound systems during festivals, stating that celebrations should bring joy without causing disturbance to people. At a press conference in Mumbai, he urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to convene a meeting with all stakeholders to regulate festive noise pollution ahead of the upcoming Ganesh festival.
Thackeray said his party is prepared to take a stand on the issue, emphasizing that people desire celebrations but not the accompanying noise troubles. The demand for quieter festivals has gained momentum across the state, with activists pushing back against high-powered loudspeakers during festivities.
Thackeray also questioned inappropriate dance performances at some Dahi Handi events, asking whether those in power align such acts with their concept of Hindutva. He criticized both state and central governments for their administrative approach.
