Uttarakhand glaciers retreating 23m yearly; Khatling Glacier loses 88m annually

A study has found that Uttarakhand's glaciers are retreating at an average rate of 23.23 metres per year. The Khatling Glacier is experiencing the fastest retreat, losing approximately 88 metres annually.
The findings highlight the accelerating impact of climate change on the state's glacial systems, which feed major river systems and are crucial for water resources in the region.
