Vasai-Virar to Provide Free Meals to MJPJAY Patients; VVMC Approves ₹3.20 Crore Plan

The Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation has approved a ₹3.20 crore expenditure proposal to provide free nutritious meals, breakfast, and tea to patients admitted under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. The decision was approved during the general body meeting on Wednesday.
The region operates seven hospitals, two maternal and child care centers, 21 urban primary health centers, 15 Balasaheb Thackeray Aapla Canteens/Clinics, and 45 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Most municipal hospital patients belong to underprivileged sections and struggle to arrange meals from outside. The lack of timely nutritious food for economically weaker patients risked adversely affecting their health and treatment progress.
Health Committee Chairman Nilesh Deshmukh noted the initiative addresses the shortage of canteen facilities. Opposition Leader Manoj Patil emphasized the importance of maintaining food quality and standards during distribution.
