Virar Woman Dies by Suicide After ₹1 Crore Blackmail Over Fake Acting Promise

A woman named Nalini, resident of Virar, was found dead near Olanda Naka in Virar West on Thursday morning around 6:15 AM during her routine walk. Police investigations confirmed she died by suicide after consuming a poisonous substance. A suicide note recovered from the scene indicated she took this step due to continuous harassment and blackmail.
According to Satish Nikam, Senior Police Inspector at Arnala Coastal Police Station, Nalini had been acquainted with 27-year-old Yogesh Mhapankar, alias Saurabh Patki. The accused promised her acting roles in web series, TV serials, and advertisements, and lured her to a flat in Bhayandar where he photographed and filmed her in explicit situations. He then threatened to make the videos viral unless she paid money.
The victim revealed in her suicide note that she had paid the accused nearly ₹1 crore by selling home jewelry, withdrawing bank savings, and selling household belongings. Despite receiving the money, the accused continued demanding more funds. Unable to endure the mental harassment, Nalini ended her life. Police have registered a case against the suspect for extortion and abetment to suicide, with investigation ongoing.
